Unfortunately, the answers to your questions in any business situation may be skewed based on the motives of the individual who answers. We have seen this to be the case on numerous occasions in the aviation industry (these people call it "sales"). While there are many benefits, buying an aircraft has the potential to be the largest expense center of your business life. If you are still reading after that last sentence then lets continue...
The correct aircraft will be determined by your travel requirements, frequency of travel, and budget. The distance and frequency of travel will be your first consideration. Is your schedule flexible or fixed? If your travel is less than 100 hours a year you should look into fractional ownership of aircraft or a jet card. This option while expensive allows the joys of corporate travel while reducing the financial risk of full aircraft ownership. We will be glad to recommend one if you like. If you fly less than 200 hours chartering aircraft are probably the best bet. If travel requirements such as passenger loads and distances change regularly over the period of a year, your charter company may be able to provide the proper airplane for a particular mission. OK, If you plan to move more than 200 hours a year, or you simply want the safety and security of knowing both the plane and and pilot providing you transport, it may make sense under the current conditions to have your own Flight Dept.
The cost of aircraft ownership are considerable and include:
There are a number of benefits to private ownership. Aircraft used for business purposes can provide attractive tax incentives. In most cases access to private aircraft can shorten your time away from home and make that time much more productive. You will not waste your valuable time adhereing to the airlines schedule, the aircraft will be waiting for you. Show up at your leisure, get on and go!
Professional representation in any industry is always a good idea. We know nothing about, nor would attempt to run your business. You are considering a major purchase of a business asset with ongoing concerns such as: Maintenance, fuel, crew, accounting and taxes. We are here to help!
